- My lessons at the just concluded Head Start Summit.
The attendance climbed to 3700 and stopped counting!
I still don’t know what happened.
I guess this man broke the internet.
I noticed he raised his right hand showing us four fingers before the commencement of his speech. “This is my 4th delivery today,” he said.
Disruptive, pulsating and energetic can better describe PK’s session.
He picked the baton from Yetunde Bankole-Bernard as the curtain was about to fall to the virtual summit organized by HSA.
I believe the organizers of the event left his slot open ended knowing full well that Olakunle Soriyan could speak for four hours straight without the assistance of a slide or notes.
I got to know him through a lady friend of my sister who handed me a copy of his CD titled “Next 365 Days” at the end of a mid-week service.
She said, “IK, here’s a message by a man I know you would enjoy.”
I collected the CD and told her I would return it a week later.
Before my encounter with Sister Esther, I had a love and following for the likes of Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy.
After listening to this revolutionary piece by the futurist, my mind went to another dimension.
Something shifted in me.
This was around 2014.
I remember the lady mentioned some other collection by the same man.
‘IK, you need to grab these messages,’ I said to myself.
I was at a place in my life I didn’t like.
I wanted change desperately.
I saved up for the TROVE PACK.
I drove to his office at Adeniyi Jones, Harmony Enclave, Ikeja and purchased a set of 15 CDs with titles like Endangered Species 1 & 2, Superior Lunatic, Paradigm of a Bread Winner 1, 2 & 3 among others.
It was then I met the disruptor in person.
I recall getting those CDs for N28,000.00.
The packaging was professional and had a touch of Europe’s standard. That was in the Black Berry era.
I had a chitchat with pastor Kunle briefly before heading back to base.
I have bought most of his messages.
I have attended some of his physical events, too.
I honestly believe PK is arguably one of Nigerian’s finest minds.
He’s a gift to our generation.
His stories of struggles, frustrations, despair and victories daily resonate with me.
His thoughts are disruptive like l stated earlier.
PK will make you think and think really hard.
Some of his talk can be depressive but the gospel truth nonetheless.
Only a book can best capture the much I have learned and keep learning from this wonderment of a man.
He shared so many thought provoking insights as he rounded off the summit.
There is this definition by him that I have committed to memory.
I have also committed it to life.
It is the one on EDUCATION.
“Education is the ability of the human spirit to experience his environment and to question it deeply enough to find the options that exist in it and to know the ones to embrace as a matter of supreme importance and urgency.
Academics is what you are taught, education is what you teach yourself.” – Olakunle Soriyan.
